Basically it should be possible if we can get moviesheets working with the new BIG Thumbnail view that zballz created for Ohagi, this will be the equilavent to STD mode on the WD TV Live as this will give you the 10 covers and then the moviesheet when you enter the folder.
At the moment the only view where it is working is Gallery which is equilavent to SHEET mode.
Hope this idea can be moved on once more talented themers than me can work on it
Hi firetix i have only just had the time to have a good look at your ‘tranparent’ templates
This is a great idea, as it basically creates a jpg that is see through… hmm i see how this is better to use for the gallery view
Perhaps when i have the time, should look at creating a separate megapack with Hub themes that have both normal or transparent templates.
Note IF you use the transparent template THEN your xml still needs to be fully functional as it has to have the links to the internet backdrops, and you need an internet conection.
However if you use a normal moviesheet you dont need any internet connection, BUT you get a static less interesting background…
Its a shame we cannot get the Hub to use local images for the backdrops as this would be the best of both worlds

hmm if this can be transported to the BIG Thumbnail view it would be great but i think then you will loose the view info, rating ,favorite option etc…
UNLESS someone redesign the galleryview to make it appear as wanted then we retain all options.

unfortunately not that simple. It seems that some functions are restricted to certain xml’s. I tried copying the EXACT code of one view to another - say preview mode to galley mode - and everyhing is completely messed up. Even simple things, like showing meta-data, like the director, or something like the duration of the movie, cannot be freely used across the different view-modes. Finding out what is possible and what is not possible and within which XMLs is quite a jungle!!
Note: Your folder names/Networkshare may get messy with the theme, so don’t worry. Actually i’ve customised it only to the names of my folders and shares.
You may lose folder Names in gallery view, so you may want to put a folder thumbnail.
I forgot to include this in the compressed file:
All credit goes to:
PsychoTHC - Anodized Theme
zballz - OHAGI Theme for his wonderful customised list view and other tweaks
3.Helll3ond - Hub Corn (Beta) for his wonderful customised video view
Hi Hades wow thats some nice work on the modification.
This certainly gives me food for thought.
I really like it and think it works very well, however it now means you have 2 views with 10 thumbnails …
Also this only really works in Video:Folder mode as in Video:All mode requires tranparent moviesheets to work properly. Only problem is that with 10 thumbnails as opposed to 7 at the bottom the moviesheet is now obstructed.
So to recap this modification is in effect your perfect STD view but you lose SHEET mode… hmm decisions decisions
I think this mod has made me more dertermined to get moviesheets working on other views as well especially the Ohagi Big thumbnail mode.
In fact i have already kinda figured how to get it half workin in the one last untouched view,Large Grid View, i just have to figure it out.
The modifications brought by Hades666 will work flawlessly with non see through movieesheets.
I’ve got one more idea,
if we reduce the thumbnail size so that the 5 rows takes atleast half of the screen, then we could make it work with moviesheets wall templates. It would work well.!
Then, we would be able to see both the thumbnails and the wall moviesheet. Like these:
However the inconvenience with the implementation of moviesheets with the hub is:
You can’t have a cover box thumbnail, you have to set up the moviesheet as the thumbnail
Next if you want to keep a coverbox thumbnail, you have to set up a folder and set it as the folder thumbnail. Then put the movie and the movie sheet in it.
Hey guys. Great work on customizing these themes. they are getting better and better. Any way to make them so there is a stationary backdrop instead of the movie backdrop.
Personally Im looking for:
-Movies in individual folders
-Outside folder and inside folder view the same content [thumbnails and all details]
Videos->Pre-Release[folder]->Movie1[folder, shows thumbnail and movie details]->Movie1.avi[actual file, shows thumbnail and movie details]
-only thumbnail and details change when scrolling through movies[not the backdrop]
Thanks
Again great job
EDIT/Update
Got ThumbGen 1.2.3.1.zip
Got moviesheetemplate.rar
Got Template_Mega_Pack_1.7.zip
I am using Hub Corn v. BETA theme
I setup ThumbGen to use Dribblers_NeatSheet_RedCurtain_SHEET_LIVEHUB
Ran ThumbGen on:
127.hours.2010.dvdscr.ac3.xvid-t0xic-ink.avi
It Generated:
127.hours.2010.dvdscr.ac3.xvid-t0xic-ink.png [renamed to .jpg]
127.hours.2010.dvdscr.ac3.xvid-t0xic-ink.xml
folder.jpg
-folder works
-xml is bad as it shows the coding. Example:
Genre: Adventure
-.png renamed to .jpg works but it is squished into little image box in top left corner
I must have missed a step somewhere. Help would be appreciated. Thanks
You both given me an idea…It would mean MULTIPLE themes, however we could modifiy the Gallery view in 3 different Themes, So in effect we would have a SHEET view theme, a STD view theme, and a Wall view theme.
The Hub user can download all 3 themes and choose which type of Gallery view they wanted and create their moviesheet.jpg accordingly.
It means a little more work to change views ie rather than using the coloured button you actually change Theme, BUT this i think would be the best solution.
Your other views via the yellow button will remain the same in all 3 Themes.
I think i will concentrate on creating Themes that are compatible with Static jpg’s whilst perhaps firetix can concentrate on Themes that are compatible with transparent jpg’s
PS i have modified Ohagi list view to work with a full screen moviesheet i will post the updated SHEET view theme later today and if i have Time a STD view theme using Hades xml.
You need to download either my theme or firetix theme as these are the only Themes were we have modified them to work with the moviesheet.jpg
HOWEVER any theme can be modified if the xmls are modified, just we haven’t done so yet, also by keeping to the same themes for now we can correct the side effects, hence the questions before attempting to come out of beta.
Also whilst the xml generated by thumbgen will generally be ok for most of the info it is not yet 100% compatible with the hub.
For now you are best running ‘Get Info’ on the Hub itself on all your test movies then create the moviesheet.jpg with Thumbgen.
Hi firetix, funny i spent a few hours yesterday trying to trick the Hub into using a local file.
However no combination of the uri spec file:/// would work.
So i came to the conclusion that the only way would be to have a webserver running so that the backdrops were indeed accessible through an ip address.
In fact IF you could get the backdrops via an ip address you could generate Full moviesheets with different backdrops and use this and do away with the moviesheet.jpg.
However as you rightly said NOT for the inexperienced user.
My initial thoughts are that IF we were to go that way then you probably need to house the backdops in one central folder and hopefully that folder would be on the Hub itself and your local webserver just directs you to that folder.
