All of the advice says to go to “settings” on the dashboard and enable media sharing.
My dashboard doesn’t have this. It appears to be called WD Discovery. I’ve had a look around and I can’t find anything that lets me download anything called a dashboard.
It seems that without this setting, none of the other steps given in the solutions work. I can’t access the device in a browser by name or IP and so I’m snookered.
When I tried Twonky it only showed the local disk as possible shared drives. No network drives.
May need to use a third party software to stream from MyCloudHome to Samsung TV. That gives you much more control. Smart TV’s special features seems to stop working due to changes in other devices and even the Smart TV’s ‘smart’ features being deactivated due to obsolescence. Frustrating. Ya, a bit confusing that even though they have similar names, they are really different products and interactions and different structures. When changing products, I consider the old product a backup for old data. All current data gets copies to new device, and new data uses new device. Frustrating. #WDUserRewards
AFAIK MyCloud Home isn’t a DLNA device so won’t show up on TV to stream you need to enable PLEX on device and use PLEX app on TV, this worked great for me for a long time, now not so much.
