I don’t keep track of the speed and that depends on when you’re asking me, but I know it works. Without driver, fan at constant speed the whole time and loud, whether active read or idling. I use Se HD for Raid 10, so it can get pretty hot. When at idling, without reading, just quiet air, and I can hear a drop in rpm. Generally, much louder than a Synology Box. Probably why WD completed dropped Sentinel.
If you’re one of those using Noctua fan, don’t. It is much quiet but the adequate flow to compensate for hot HD is just not there. The WD therm fan control doesn’t work with Noctua fan. I did a nonscientific test for 30 minutes, logging temp and rpm etc, but I just stopped and didn’t think it matter after I noticing the back of Sentinel box gets really hot with Noctua fan.
What’s the problem and what are you trying to accomplish now? I’m not an expert, but if you need drivers or files I can find you the direct link or even send it to you.
Right, I can live without sound alert or info on about page.
