Folder Access

I created a test folder to play around with and I turned public access off, but when I try to get to it from windows explorer it wants a password. I tried all my normal passwords but it still won’t let me connect. Is there a way to find out what my password is?

If the Share is no longer public, then you need to associate it to one or more users defined in the Cloud.

The password would be for that user.

I assigned it to me, but I don’t remember what the password is. Is there a way to find out the password?

Access the MyCloud via the dashboard and Edit the users password. When I set up my MyCloud I used the same user name and password as I use on my PC.

I changed the password, but still will not let me into that folder. It’s not letting me into the NAS itself. I ddn’t think I gave it a password but evidently i did. Is there a way to find out what that password is?

No way.   You wouldn’t want that capability, would you?  If you can find out, so can anyone else…

You can RESET the password, though, by following the instructions in the manual.

I reset the password, and this is what I get when I try and login. But I still can’t login, any ideas?

try removing the domain or changing it to Workgroup.  to remove the domain, type   before the username.

You must provide what it is asking for, your network password, not a My Cloud password. Do that and you should be able to get to your My Cloud.

See the post I made in this discussion

Cat0w, there’s no possible way a router password has anything to do with network shares. It is asking for the user / password set on the Cloud.

You are telling me I don’t know what worked on my computer!!!

Look at the image that was provided!!!

Your username should be entered like

[Your_NAS_as_it_appears_in_Network_Neighbourhood][Your_user_name]

Note the "" between both

If that doesn’t work with the current password, make sure you have not other current connection to the NAS with a different username.

With a command prompt, you can type “net use * /delete”. This command will show you all connections it would delete if there is any. Then try again.

I assume you can access the NAS through the dashboard, yes? Make sure your user has at least read access to the share…

I’ve tried changing user name and password and this is what I get.

That error occurs because you’ve already logged into your NAS using a different user name.

Windows doesn’t allow that (and it’s the ONLY operating system with such a limitation.)

See Etupes’ post on how to clear the cached connections.

The syntax is

net use * /delete

(not user which was probbly a typo.)

Thanks Tony,

I had just figured it out before you posted. I had mapped to a folder on the NAS before I had created the test folder. Removing the mapped drive solved the problem.

Excellent!

Thanks for following up!
