As part of a globally distributed research team we use the WDMyCloud fileserver for secure file access.
All users use the desktop application on their local machines and have local passwords to open the application.
One (Mac) user forgot the password and can no longer open the application. How does she regain access to the application?
First I revoked access from the dashboard for this user. I would have to create a new access code for renewed acces. I expected that this would fore the desktop application on the remote Mac to enable the page where a new access code can be entered. Unfortunately, the user is forced to first enter the desktop application password.
Next, we tried to completely uninstall the desktop application from Mac by attempting to use the uninstall option. A message was displayed stating that the uninstallation process was aborted prematurely. (This happened each time we tried it.) An online search recommended to pull the application to the garbage bin. I did that for the application and all links related to WDMyCloud followed by empting the garbage bin and reboot.
I continued doing this a few times until not traces of WDMyCloud could be found anywhere on the Mac.
After this we reinstalled the desktop application.
Unfortunately, the application reinstalled but came back with the same page where the (old) password is require to be put in.
Apparently, either the desktop application is not completely uninstalled, or the file where the local password is stored is not deleted. How do I get around this problem?
Thanks,
