so find a unix guru, he will fix it for a beer
Nice product, this one, that needs an unix guru to work as it was supposed to do…
you may buy some NetGear for $998, they nicely resolved update process problems - they issue NO UPDATES
I would never buy an US$ 1k thing for home back-ups and shares (maybe a company would). But how about a company that sells things and then releases updates that “bleep” the whole thing off? What’s the point of paying less and end with a brick?
Come on, let’s read those previous posts and see how many problems this product and its updates give to users. It can’t be seen as a good, reliable product. And this is exactly what users expect when they buy a NAS to their LANs.
In the end, my 1TB MBL ended unusable after last firmware update. To lower the loss, I had to buy an external sATA case and attach the hdd to it. And, as far as I know, there’s no way to recover the whole system, when such an update failure leaves the unit undetectable to the Op Sys.
I’ve updated manually because the new release would not updated automatically. i now have this error when i try to add a mobile device for an activation code

30000 - Unknown error. Please ensure you are not facing network connectivity issues and try again.

I thnk it maybe a problem with my LAN Configuration setting but now sure…HELP!!!
Can you advice if it is safe to upgrade to the latest firmware? Because i’m scared to brick my expensive my book live. Thanks.
I also hold the same concern. I understand how the upgrade process works but still quite unsure. I guess I can back-up my NAS to the LaCie NAS I’ve got (as it’s just about got enough room) and try. Mine is still under warranty so I could do an accelerated warranty. The internal changes I’ve done are seriously slight. The changes are reversed to as was shipped from the factory BEFORE I perform a manual update so there is no reason, from my end, that a Firmware upgrade should fail because of internal tweaking.
I know I write a work-around to the WebDAV issue within another discussion thread but not implemented the solution on my MBL under the assumption that the this fix will “finally get it right”.
Would also be cool to see the Firmware update also fix the issue of the Web UI being inaccessible.
Due to the release of Firmware Version 02.03.01-024, we are now closing this thread.
