New Release - Firmware Version 1.11.14 for WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (9/6/12)

I had this issue with 1.10.13 but with drives directly connected. I went back to firmware 1.09 and I’ve had no problems since

after upgrading to 1.11.14  when palying .avi videos there is no more option “Skip to desired time” when pressing the OK button. It still works when playing for example .mp4 files. The function is very important.

Using the Search button instead is no help since the OK button is at a much better/more ergonomics position, and when using Search the slide bar/total time is not visible. And it should work if it works with other file types.

also while playing a movie, pressing the Options button stops the playback. Before the upgrade it did not stop the playback.

Everything - including the above mentioned functions - was OK before this latest upgrade.

Well…

I’ve only watched 1 video so far, but 2 issues appear fixed (for me)…

  1. SMB/Windows networking stable (I see my shares and can stream from shares).

  2. Chaptering for .MKV now works.  I hit OPTIONS and can now select a Chapter, although I prefer the OLD ui where it was quick to use left/right to choose a chapter number.  It seems like an extra click now but I’m guessing you have a reason for that.

These 2 items are show-stoppers for me, so many thanks and now I will start using in earnest.

Hoping not to find more problems!

Re: “Skip to desired time”

While the search-button might be a workaround, it apparently doesn’t work while playback is paused…

Ever since I upgraded to 1.11.14, when I leave my WD TV Live in “standby” mode over night then turn it on the next day, the light on the front of the device comes on, but I get no picture.  I have unplug it and plug it back in, then it works fine until the next day and I have to repeat that process.

I am using HDMI with optical out for audio on a Sony Bravia LCD TV.

I rolled back to 1.10.13 and now it can sit in standby mode overnight without any issues.

Hopefully they fix this in the next firmware update.  Anyone else seeing this issue?  I haven’t seen any posts on it yet.

Using Vimeo freezes the unit after watching a few videos. A restart is required.

Huh?  There’s been no change to MKV chapter support that I can see…

yes this happens to me as well but not every time.

I’m experiencing erratic remote control behavior eg: for instance if I press left once it will act as if I pressed it 3 times or more, no matter what I press it will do it’s own thing, the remote control was working fine before I upgraded to 1.11.14, It snetworked to a synology media server nothing else, and its not the batteries. Anyone else having this problem? I’ve also reset the box with no joy

Just voicing my displeasure at the way the video pauses when the options menu comes up in the newest firmware. Could we make that an option, at least? The way the “loading” graphic stays up longer is also not good - I can live with it, but I preferred the shorter load times in the previous firmware.

After the new update i have this problem.

When my WD live is in standby over night then it CANT find my libarey.

I have to pull the power then it works.

Eney ides. Og WD fix it!

Regards Daniel and thanks

I get the same problem, no picture yet even emving power cord does not work, its as though its completely broken.

Hello, I updated the player to the latest firmware and I noticed three issues: - after powering on the player, it always says that the last content origin is no longer available and to select a new one, but I have an external hd always connected to it; - when pressing the stop button while watching a video it takes longer to have the video stopped and the sound continues to play for a couple of seconds after the files list appears; - to completely switch off the player, I need to press the power button twice: the first, for a short time, then I have to release the button and push longer to have the player completely powered off. None of that was present with the previous firmware.

i just I rolled back to 1.10.13 now and everything is working great.  Please add a Bluray menu on a next relesed!

Erratic remote control SOLVED, my other digi box was causing the problem, moved them apart and alls good

I am having the same issues after installing the new firmware a week ago. Can someone provide assistance?

The skip to function dissappeared with avi-files as well as ISO-files

there has never been a Skip-to function for ISO.

Absolutely there was a skip-to function for ISO.  Turn off DVD Menu and the Skip To option is available like it is for any other file format.

I’m having the same problem as couple of you guys. When i power up my player, it says that the previous source can’t be found. And that source is my media library that is from my Windows network share. When i go to the media library settings, the two directories show some kind of a disconnected -sign. I always have to rescan one of the directories so the player notices that those shares are on.

This seems to happen every day when I first time turn of the wdtv player, after my computer has been shut down for the night. So my guess is that every time I reset the computer wdtv live player looses those shares. And needless to say that this firmware is the first to have this (quite major) problem! So really looking forward for a fix!

No, they don’t seem to check them much, this is the second revision that doesn’t work on 4T drives. 1 out of the last three worked, 1.11.14 doesn’t work on drives over 2T from what I’ve seen. It’s always a battle for an hour or two with this site to get the older working firmware again. Well time to battle with the site again!

I’ve had that issue with older firmware. 1.11.14 either works (on 2T or less drives) or not at all like on my 4T samba drive. Are you using WiFi? I did find that quite intermittent and went back to wired to stop it.
