I had not seen this info about the mis-matched parameters.
I am guessing that is the reason when I installed the new firmware and then did a complete factory reset it would have removed all the previous Shares, data and Shares parameters so when I started over I would have eliminated the mis-matched paraameters from the previous version of the firmware.
Does that make sense?
I have added new Shares since I updated the Firmware and I am still runing after 16-DAYS!!!
This is a new all time record for the My Cloud, the best previous performance was 7-Days.
Yes there is, but in not writing double posts here, look in the posts here in how to do it. You need Putty and SSH for it because you need to change a parameter inside the My Cloud for that accept this. Apparently you canât just go to manual update and do it from there, the My Cloud is not allowing. Updates are only upwards, not down wards. There are posts here which explains this in details.
I am impressed, and amazed. I can only hope I can keep our My Cloud running for 37-days without a hang up, way to go!
If it actually survives 90-days I will bring it on live and let the users start backing up to it but I still plan to run another known reliable backup solution in tandem until the My CLoud proves itself, maybe a period of possibly 6-months and I will trust it enough to buy more of them to place in each of our locations.
My cloud had been running for months. Everything seems to work okay except for sending links. I am running the firmware it came with and refuse to update. The very first update caused it to lose remote access⊠making it useless as a cloud. I have three laptops, two S4 Galaxys and one DROID mini running off it.
I watch this thread everytime new firmware comes out and there are ALWAYS problems with the new firmware. I really would love to send links as it wound help with sending large files to clients but I am too afraid to update and lose data again.
Come to think of it, my safe points donât work either so I manually back it up, but at least it works. I really think this is the last WD product I will buy. Itâs been incredibly frustrating.
I have been trying to install the update with no luck.  The internal  âCheck fo updateâ says it is up to date and the update from file ultimately produces an error, 31101  - Invalid firmware package.
I updated to the new firmware tonight as oddly enough, I posted earlier today saying all was well, but then at somepoint I lost the ability to connect my Galaxy S4 on mobile data. It will only connect when on wifi.  The firmware updated no problem, I chose the manual update route.  Still no connection on mobile dataâŠjust spoke with my business partner, and he is saying the same thing. We have the same phones and same carrier (Verizon).  No idea what this about nowâŠ
This is a huge problem for me as the sole reason I got this was to allow use from the phones.  I use Excell to create workbooks that keep track of estimate, costs, hours, miles, receipts, payments, photos, specifications, plans etc etc for jobs we do. I access, edit, upload, share and copy from my cloud many times a day.  Right now its just a white brick to me⊠Â
Not to be a jerk but really? 37 days? Since when did we become Beta testers? This product should not have such problems that we can barely keep them working for a monthâŠI mean would you buy a car that ran for a month and then required extensive work? Over and Over?Â

Okay, folks, so last night I upgraded the firmware and now I canât access My Cloud. Every time I launch the My Cloud App I get the welcome screen where it says âchoose your device.â When I click on my device the screen simply reloads back to the welcome screen. Any ideas? This is very frustrating.
Well I also delayed updating the firmware, I no longer have the drive set to auto update after the hassle last time. Thank god for that decision
I had some issues after the previous update, it kept going offline after a few hours for about 4 days. I think this was because it was re-indexing the drive and creating thumbnails. After this initial period it has not lost connection since, (about 6 weeks?) so I have left well alone.
I just wish the java issue could be resolved so I can update to the latest version without losing access. I tried all the work arounds with permissions etc to no avail, it will not allow me a remote connection with the latest java installed. This is really unacceptable!
So I did a hard reset and now I canât login. Worse yet, before I was able to navigate to drive via âmy computerâ on windows but now I canât even access this anymore. Please, WD, some help. This drive has everything on it.
Iâm happy to report that everything is fine now. I went to the download page and I see that WD have put to old firmware download back. Reinstalled and all is well. I will never upgrade again, however.
After reading the comments here, I stoped trying to upgrade the firmware. Â I set an security exception in the Java console to allow the IP if the My Cloud to pass through while keeping the security seetings on high. Â So things are working well for now. Â
My opinion of the My Cloud however is that I am disappointed with the preformace of WD in maintaining the firmware. Â If you are going to get into this business you need to be able to maintain the system.

Before a company can maintain a firmware it needs the capabilty to design a maintainable software
i cannot find where i am able to download the previous firmware version? Â Additionally, i no longer can log in to my device via the dashboard, what exactly are my options now to troubleshoot??
Itâs been over a month since the last firmware update. Iâm OK with that⊠but only because I still believe (for some dwindling reason) that the next release will address âseveralâ of the issues that have been reported. The performance of the Web Interface (Dashboard) has been decreasing with each subsequent firmware release and the permissions to copy to, move to and delete from an external USB 3.0 attached drive (Using the MyCloud Desktop Application and Windows File Explorer) has been broken since the initial release. Please make sure that these issues along with the connection inconsistencies are addressed and reasonably tested in the next release. Iâm currently using MyCloud to store non-critical data as I have no confidence in this device in its current state to backup my digital memories (photos & videos). I have been a WD storage customer for a while, but unless the above issues are addressed in a reasonable time, I will be looking elsewhere for a practical NAS solution.
