Should pwd from OS3 work for OS5?

All in all, I think since I want to use MyCloud EX 2 Ultra only for LAN sharing (no cloud, no smart(=silly) apps), I need not upgrade to OS5. I prefer actual functionality and stability to OS5 problems…
WD force users to upgrade but do not offer work continuity…

puh, I got sweating after reading the answer from highlander22 that no Android access from cellphone/tablet within the local Wifi network will be possible. But thanks for clariying that this is regarding only the WD MyCloud app. By using any other file manager app that should grant access to the MyCloud within the local network as usual (have still not tried it). I hope I understood it right?

Yes you have understood that right. This assumes WD doesn’t do something stupid with their last OS3 firmware update to shutdown remote access when they release it (probably in April). I currently have (for several years now) my first gen single bay My Cloud blocked from the Internet/Broadband and use Asus File Manger app on my Android devices to access the My Cloud (and other manufacturer’s NAS’s) while on the local network. Previously used ES File Explorer but they bloated that program up so found something not as bloated with the Asus app. There are numerous Android file manager apps out there to choose from.

I use Solid Explorer now. And earlier ES File Explorer - but they bloated it ip, yes, unfortunetly.

I tried with the default “file” APP on my iphone and is only able to access the “public” folder in my drive. Can’t access any other directory that requires login/password. Not sure if it is a problem of iOS. Have no issue accessing any folder from my PC.

ok, but the WDs changes in the remote access will follow in April, so I think your issue is in your iOS.

this are private folders obviously, so logging in is a normal procedure.

…because your login/password is stored on your PC, I would say.
