Hi
I’m using a WD My Cloud 2TB at the moment. Everything works fine, it’s fast and does everything it should do. No problems with streaming files and so on.
Only if I download a file to the My Cloud directly with wget via SSH oder aria2 and similar tools (a direct http download, not torrent), it’s really slow. It downloads with ~3,5MB/s, no matter from what server, no matter if the file is hosted inside the home-network or over the internet.
If I download the same files with a computer, it’s using the full ~20MB/s of the internet connection.
If I transfer a file from a computer to the My Cloud, I get 70 - 100MB/s.
Is there anything I can do about this?
What have you tried in order to isolate this issue? How many services do you run off your WD My Cloud? There could be a bandwidth distribution or prioritization issue.
Tested right now, freshly installed 04.01.04-422 without any modifications. Logged in via SSH, using wget to download a file from the internet: ~3,5MB/s. Same with a file hosted on a webserver inside the LAN: ~3,5MB/s.
If I try the same files from the same servers with a PC, I get the max. possible speed.
Transfers via SMB from a PC to the My Cloud and vice versa are working perfectly.
Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
