I have a MacBook Pro with El Capitan and I just today bought a 4Gb MyCloud

I connected it directly to Time Capsule that is serving as my router.
I had to wait for a 10 min or so before the drive turned up in Finder , but it did.

I’m using the latest firmware.

hi treaders and contributors,

got the very same problem. very, very annoying.
to the point it almost made me regret switching from pc to mac.

solution:
in finder >Go >connect to server
type in your wd my cloud address: smb://wdmycloud
add to list with +
select it
click connect and voilà!
you can mount the desired folders but more important, you can now access your drive in finder.

cheers

Hello!

I can’t make Finder connect to my WD mycloud, been trying for over a week now and surfing around for solutions. I use ElCapitan. I can access the dashboard through a browser so I know that I have the right username and password, but Finder only connects as “Guest”, when I try to connect as a registered user I get the message that there is a problem connecting, and that I should check that I’m connected to the network. I know that I’m connected, the mycloud shows up in finder and everything but it won’t let me connect as a registered user! super thankful for any help! I’m considering returning the device to the store…

I just managed to do it. I have OS x El Capitan.
I always tried to connect as registered user and fill in the username (admin or the main user you have) and password (I used to set password OFF in the MYCLOUD settings).
I tried to put password ON (it automatically makes you create a new one) and retry to connect from finder and it works.
Hope works for you as well.
