Would this work?

Trying to ditch cable TV, since I’m paying a ton for a lot of channels I don’t watch. Need to be able to watch Netflix and I’d like to be able to keep OTA television.

So, tell me if I’m missing something with the setup I’ve sketched out here:

WD Live Hub connected to the 57-inch HD set in the living room with an extra 1TB drive plugged in through USB for additional storage

WD Live Plus for the bedroom TV to connect to the Hub

TV tuner attached to a computer on the network for recording, set to save to the Hub

I know I’m probably going to have to replace my current router (Linksys WRT54G) with something that can handle that sort of traffic, but other than that, any problems? Anyone doing it this way now?

The only wildcard I can think of is making sure the TV Tuner’s media files are compatible with the Live + and Hub.

If your intention is to connect both systems wireless, you will need a minimum of a 5.0 GHz 802.11N AP/Bridge to accomodate the necessary data rate.

Sorry one addition, look for a pair of Netgear  WNHDE111, available on Amazon and other places quite reasonable!!

Thanks for the input, everyone.

One thing I’m still wondering about: if I were saving a TV recording to the Hub, would I be able to use it to watch another video/Netflix while it’s saving? I’ve read conflicting info about whether or not a network file transfer like that would force me to wait until it’s over before I could use the Hub.
