2TB Ultra Metal issues

Currently have 2TB Ultra Metal that an employee backups documents to on their Macbook Air. Lately they noticed they have to plugin and unplug the drive couple times before the Mac see’s the drive. I am currently copying 280GB of data off the drive and so far it has taken over 7 hours and still reporting 3 more hours to go. I also noticed the drive seems to be a little warm. Is this the sign of the drive slowing going bad? Should I have RMA done for the drive it is just little over a year old and has 3 yr for warranty.

I recommend you try replacing the USB cable. Also, if possible you can try on another computer. If the issue remains then you should contact WD support and get a replacement.
