2tb WD drive over network

Hi,

apologies if this has been asked before, but the search didn’t turn up anything specifically the same… so thought I’d ask anyway.

Just purchased a WDTV LIve box, updated to latest firmware (1.14.09) and I’m having a problem with 1 of my internal drives on my main comp. Browsing on the WDTV box, for a windows share, shows 2 drives… a 500gb and 250gb, no problem. But my big drive, a WD20EURS  2TB, isn’t visible.

Is this due to the WDTV not being compatible with 2TB drives? As I’ve seen conflicting reports on this issue. Everything else streams fine on my other drives, and all network shares/permissions are in place, so the only thing it can be is the drive sector size thing.

Thanks for any help.

Danny

The WD has *NO* size limitations for network drives.

Thanks for the reply. So any idea why it isn’t showing up?!

Well for anyone that is interested (plenty of views but no helpful replies!) the issue was down to the unique way in which win 7 totally tries to restrict you’re home private network shares! I had to add ‘everyone’ group into the drives security tab and give that full control. As soon as I did that, all drives (including C:) showed up on the WDTV.

This is the wrong forum for the new generation WD boxes

Well, your first post said that you had ensured all permissions were set correctly, but apparently they weren’t.
