I have a 3TB MyBookLive drive that is only showing up as a 2TB drive. I am assuming that it is because of the MBR/GPT partition limitations. What is the easiest way of either showing this as a full 3TB or either partitioning it into a 2Tb and a 1TB drive so all my computers can see it. It is showing only 2TB on all my computers (Windows 7, 8.1, and 10) All my computers have been built so everything is formatted/patitioned in MBR and NTFS as far as I can remember.
Thanks for any help provided:)
Format type and partitions are irrelevant when it comes to NAS. Did it ever show 3TB, or is this a recent change?
i actually just installed it on the network. its the first time I have used it. So to answer the question, I guess it has always showed 2TB. Any further help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks TonyPh12345 for the help:)
Well, it may be one of two things going on – there were a few reports a LONG LONG time ago of mis-marked packaging and the drives being incorrect. But this was years ago. You would need to call WD and see if there’s anything they can do about it, or return it to your place of purchase.
What is the exact model number printed on the sticker of the unit?
