4TB Passport ultra not supported

I just picked up 2 of the 4TB passport ultra drives so I can store all my movies and music on them. I’ve been using 4TB Elements now for a long time and they work great with my Sony Blu-ray player. For some reason when I plug in the Passport drive I get “The USB device is not supported” I formatted both drives on the same PC and didn’t change a thing. What can I do to get my player to read the drive? FAT32 format is not an option because of it’s limits I can’t store any Blu-ray movies on the drives. Thanks

Hello,

Could be a power issue. The Blu-ray might not be providing enough power for the passport unit.

My other 4TB WD Element drives work perfect. It could be the the Ultra is slightly different.

Hi,

Those are different line of products, although, they are both portable drives.

Since the Passport works on a PC, that’s the only situation that could be happening.

Hello,

Did you format as MBR or GPT ?

I formatted it as NTFS but the partition style is default in GPT. My other 4Tb WD Element hard drive has a partition style of MBR but this style only works with 2TB or less so I have no idea how it’s working.
