A little info please

Hi all,

am thinking about getting the live plus and have a few questions if you don’t mind?

  1. for playlists, which is best to use? and does it work better from a usb or the network?

  2. what is the biggest usb suppport(hdd) for the usb?

  3. does it still support continious cycle of playing movies?

  4. does it still play iso files as if they were regular files?

I still have the original wd player and it worked fine for a long time, but I wanted netflix and to stream from the network, so I went with the seagate fat+ and am not too happy with seagate right now, for one, when you encode using h.264 and aac for codecs it doesn’t have sound in the next movie, you have to select sound and choose a different source then go and choose the right choice, I had to reencode all my movies just because of that fact, also there’s no playlist functionality

I would appreciate all answers!

Thanks Much

 Rick

Welcome to the forums.

  1. I use Playlist Creator, if that’s what you are asking.  I have an NAS but the Live works equally well with local drives or net shares.

  2. The Live supposedly has no real limiations on hard drive size (something like up to 8GB) but it will not work with all drives and it cannot use a “combo” drive (a USB drive made of more than one physical drive).  There are no such limitations on an NAS, of course.

  3. Not quite sure what you mean – you can loop an individual movie or all movies in one folder if you want.

  4. It can indeed play ISO files like a normal DVD (with menus, etc.) using the latest firmware.
