Able to see Windows Share only with ADMINTRATOR rights

Hi there,

I’m using Windows 7 and a have a fresh install.

I had created a user and share some folders with that user.

With the user and password I configure the WDTV Live to look for the Windows Share and I provide ID and Password but I was always getting an error of user/password invalid.

When I change the user from normal user to Admintrator in Windows the connection works fine in WDTV…

Is there any way to have a standar user (not admin in Windows) and access the Windows Share???

I can see the shares from another computer using the user/pass that I had created (not admin)…

I don’t get it how I’m getting this error… (Permission for the normal user were set to READ/WRITE on the folder)

Hello, review the steps on the following link to see if it helps.

How to share a folder in Windows that can be viewed with the WD TV Live, Live Streaming, Live Hub, or Live Plus

Well, sharing folders is nice, but ultimately a waste when there’s a limit in the WDTV-device to only support 10 shares.

How do I have to share fixed drives in Windows so the WDTV can see them?

I accomplished to get it to see a shared USB-stick (totally useless), but the device just doesn’t recognize a shared fixed HD.

EDIT: Played around a bit and now, after setting to require a login to access the shares, the device sees the shared drives, too.

Nevermind then.
