Android App auto backup on all devices

I have the MyCloud Home 4tb with 2 android phones connected to it. All phones initially backed up and maybe did a couple backups after initial install. Now the auto backup will not back up any of the phones.
When I go into settings for auto backup, I notice it keeps turning itself off as well as the Use cellular date setting. So, I try turning it back on and it still won’t back up! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!

The answer is right there in your description…

If there’s nothing new for it to backup, then it won’t run the backup process. Since backups can be very large, it wouldn’t make sense to waste the time and processing power to create identical backups, which already exist on the device. That is, unless you want to fill up your device with a bunch of identical files called AndroidBackup_(1), AndroidBackup_(2), AndroidBackup_(3), etc… all in one night.

And as for why it keeps turning off and reaching out to your app, backups can be hefty processes so your repeated attempts are probably filling up the temp caches in your My Cloud Home (and your phone too), thus leaving it with no working memory. So it crashes, and it then tries to start up and resume any aborted tasks, while it also receives another new backup command from you… and crashes again. Just calm down and let the thing to it’s job. It’ll take a bit to for it to resolve all the file conflicts, clear caches, etc.

I understand what you’re saying but it does not take 2 months to backup new photos. I literally have to go in turn off auto backup and turn it back on then they upload to my drive. On my wife’s phone I thought it backed up all the photos to the drive so I delete it on. The pictures were dated October 12, on 1st of December I delete it and they were not on the drive.
