Back up and restore

hi I backup my laptop to my portable drive. now having wiped and re-installed fresh windows. when I have tried to restore from the backup. it is saying there is no backup to restore from . Exact message is " There are no files to restore. You have not scheduled a back up plan". how can I resolve this.

I don’t want to go and copy each individual folder from the portable drive to the laptop. I would prefer to have automatic restore.

Please help.

I used the ASSCRONIS software to clone my C: drive on my HP Pavilion DV7 notebook and didn’t realize it prevents you from using the MY Passport drive for anything else. It also cloned another USB 250Gig USB drive I have connected to my laptop.

So I used the ASSCRONIS! cleaner to wipe it and tried to do a standard windows backup and restore and it failed 6 freaking times! reformatted the MY Passport and still no luck.

I went back on line to WD and downloaded the WD back up utility and am in backup mode now with fingers crossed. If you use ASSCRONIS be advised it is only a trial version with very limited features so don’t expect any miracles with that software either.

So far I am not to pleased with the ease of use with this My Passport External drive. Or I am just stupid and didn’t read the documentation correctly. NOT! I read every darn “readme” file to make sure I was doing it by the Numbers. I just pray that the restore process won’t be this frustrating.
