my dx4000 fails to back up my data witha vague
i am tryng to figure out why but couldnt.
i am thinking of hard reseting my dx4000 to start over.
i need to install this hotfix to my dx4000 right?
i 'll use mstsc to connect to it and then i ll go to that website download and install?
Yes. You can save it to the dx if you like from another pc, but you do need to mstsc to the server and run it there. Then you have to wait for the connector to update on the client or uninstall/reinstall.
It will still not backup until you do windows updates on the client (maybe, used to be the case)

thank you for all your help. you really are a very good person who tries to help all the people on that forum. i really appreciate it.
i went to the website you linked to and sent the hotfix link to my email downloaded it and installed it on my DX4000 but still the backup fails.
i have installed the hotfix/restarted the dx4000 checked my desktop win10 64bit for updates (no updates) restarted it too.
when i try to backup from the dashboard it says:
“an unkown error prevented the server from performing the task make sure all the services on the server are running and try again”
when i try it from the launchpad it says:
there are only 2 devices on my home network atm. my desktop pc and the DX4000 both are connected to the internet via the same modem/router and are connected to each other too. i know because i have tried to get a large from the DX4000 to my dekstop and it was succesful.
another problem is that on my desktop pc i use a 4k 28" display (its my only one) and i use it with larger font and everything but when i mstsc to my DX4000 the desktop shows as 4k and i cant change setting to make it look bigger or change the resolution. they are all greyed out and there s a message like this on top:
Like I said you have to get the updated connector on the client. If you wait it will update itself, or uninstall it on the client and reinstall it.
Then check windows updates on the client
you cannot change the resolution as you have found out

i uninstalled and reinstalled the connector on my desktop restarted both devices and finally: im able to back up my stuff.
it took me more than a week to get this thing to work properly but it finally works. thanks to you!
