I have the player set to automatically get content and I notice that some episodes display a backdrop in gallery view and some do not.
The ones that do have a .backdrop folder with the episode title. The xml file also has a list of links to TVDB art.
Is there any reason the player doesn’t show the backdrops from the generic series.backdrop folder? From the TVDB site, I can’t figure out how some episodes provide art to the wdtv xml and others don’t. There’s a bunch of fanart for the series but nothing that identifies art for specific episodes.
For example, the series “Lost Girl” has a folder “.Lost Girl.backdrop” with lots of art in it and I can view it manually on the player with “view backdrops”. But it won’t create “episode.backdrop” folders so you can see it as you navigate. This does work with many other series though.
The backdrops that are missing may not be available from tvdb, for this reason the .backdrop folder is not created. You may try connecting to another metaserver.
I have the same problem. Sometimes the backdrop folder gets created and sometimes it doesnt. For example. I have Glee season 3 and I just got episode 10. When I check tvdb.com i can see that tthere are fanart images wich SMP uses to creates backdrop when getting content info and SMP has used them to create backdrop folder for all the previous episodes. Sometimes, when the xml files is created by getting content info manually, the backdrop images isnt added to the xml file in the process, sometimes it is. It seems very random. This really irritates me.
there is no backdrop shortcuts in the xml file, but on the player i can go to option and look at 40 backdrops. if i do a rescan on the actual episode then it creates the proper info in the xml file and it works for that one episode. i dont want to do that for all 4 seasons of breaking bad!
I tried rescanning the whole folder but that doesnt have the same result.
