I have the newer mycloud home 3TB single bay. I also have the older mycloud gen 1 3TB. I would like to regularly auto back up some folders from mycloud home “private space” to the old mycloud.
As you know, old mycloud works fine with normal window sharing and mapping. But mycloud home “mapping” must go through WD discovery so all backup software (including WD’s own WD backup) cannot see the ”mapped drive Z:” or any other shared drives from Mycloud home as backup sources, except for the “public folder”; hence rendering only way to “backup” is to do it by way of of manual means.
Just want to see if anyone has figured out a way to set up automatic backup from WD mycloud home or we just have to live with this limitation?
Please refer to the article My Cloud Home: Private User Space & Public Share Access:
The My Cloud Home Public Share is designed and implemented for Windows File Backup. It is not designed for local LAN storage access. Although is can be accessed on Windows and macOS, it was not designed to be used as local LAN storage. Please use WD Discovery and the User Private Space for your My Cloud Home content storage needs.

Hi,
main problem for me as well.
the public is totally unsecure. if someone enter you lan, it can read write on your backup, but this is the only share I can reach without WD discovery application.
the private space need wd discovery and a login but there are no CLI command to automatical login.
the only way is to used the sync feature but you never know when a sync is completed and if you data are saved.
suggested improvements:
command to start and login in wd discovery
private user share with private rights like \\wdbox\myuser$
