Hello, I’ve been searching for days looking for a solution but with no luck. I have a bit of a complex system with two NAS’s (Buffalo) and two MyCloud Homes. In theory my system should work, but I’m having difficulty getting full and incremental backups of NAS data to work properly.
- I’m using NovaBackup for writing from PCs to the various hard drives. This works fine.
- I will use FreeFileSync to transfer the backup files between the NAS’s. This is fine also.
- I have “raw data” files on a couple of the devices. I want to back this data up between drives, not just sync. The reason for this, is that I don’t want to accidentally delete some files and then have sync run and delete them all. I want actual historic backups. In using NovaBackup, it will run the full backups fine, but the trouble comes with the incremental backups. For the Buffalo, it treats all files as if they haven’t been backed up, and will backup everything again. On the MyCloud, it ignores any changes on an incremental job and doesn’t backup anything since the full.
I’ve looked into other software, such as Aomei. The problem I’m having with this one, is that it works fine for my Buffalos setup as a NAS, but I can’t seem to find the MyCloud mapped folders in the program. Both NovaBackup and FreeFileSync see the MyClouds no problem.
Any suggestions here? Again, I have raw data (original data) on the hard drives that I want to backup, not just sync.
