Best filesystem for external USB Safepoint drive

Any recomendation for filesystem backup drive connected via USB (speed, safety, etc…)?

If you use ext2,ext3,ext4 then it can only be mounted on a linux device. If you use ntfs
it can be mounted on Windows,Linux, and Mac.

With the My Cloud and its low powered hardware it may not make a difference. People have speed problems with external USB hard drives connected to the My Cloud’s USB port. There are quite a few threads, here are just a few:
