Hello, welcome to the community.

If you are looking to install the hard drive on a computer as you mentioned the WD Red are the way to go, however I would recommend a NAS like a WD My Cloud or WD EX2100, as this hard drives have dedicated media server and can be accessed over the network without the need for a leave the computer on.

Hello lluna,

Thanks , I know that a NAS would be the best solution, but I have to change both my desktop disk (I will buy one SSD and the WD Red as storage disk) and for now I need to follow the cheapest way.

In the future, if possible, I will buy a NAS , but for now desktop and an wxternal WD elements is the only way :frowning:

Thanks again

Luca

Hi, to give you an idea, my ex-gaiming computer has a SSD and 2 WD Red’s on RAID 0, and I now use them to stream movies from my desktop to the WD TV Live I have connected to the big screen. I have to add that I do not leave his PC on 24/7.

It’s somthing like my situation.

I’m waiting for a new SSD , I will buy also a WD Red 2tb where I will store all my file that I will stream on WD Tv on main tv.

When I will have some other money I will buy a NAS to store and stream all the files

Thanks

Luca
