Brand New WDLive TV issues

hi all first post, after hours of tearing my hair out i decided to post my problem here, i’ve just bought a WDTV live and once i plugged in the device it says it “Has No Network Connection” i’ve tried the same cable in my xbox/htpc/xbox 360 and they connect straight away, any ideas???

Go into the WD’s NETWORK SETTINGS and report back what was assigned for the IP address, mask, gateway, and DNS.

hi and thank you for the reply, i’ve only had this thing for less than 10 hours :frowning:

IP ADRESS : 169.254.25.95
SUBNET : 255.255.0.0

GATEWAY : 0.0.0.0

DNS : 0.0.0.0

its like it can’t see my router

Yeah, that’s a good assessment.  

Is your router providing DHCP addresses to other devices on your network?

Are you conecting via WIRED or WIRELESS? 

If WIRED, do all the LED’s light up correctly. 

If WIRELESS, are you using a supported adapter, and did you get the WIRELESS configuration screen?

 “*¶åpC” thats what host name the WD live is sending t o my router, i think there is something seriously wrong with the NIC, i’m taking it back for an exchange straight away, i’ll report back once i get a new one, also i’m hearing that there is a problem with this and windows 7 have you heard of that, thank heaps for your help

Nope…  Quite a long time ago there was an incompatibility with Windows 7 running a certain microsoft application, but that was fixed quite a while back.

Oh, btw, if you haven’t tried already, try doing a complete restore back to factory defaults.    That hostname might just be the symptom of something corrupt in the configuration.
