Buffering

Having a problem with my WDBHG70000NBK playing files from my NAS. It will pause and buffer, then play in fast foward until it catches up to where it should have been, every three-five minutes. I have never had this problem playing files from the USB slot (it can even be the same exact file).

Both the WDTV and NAS are hooked up through CAT 5e to my router. I can play files on my iMac just fine with the same connection as the WDTV. These a full BR Rips from MakeMKV with the lossless audio track (DTS HD/True HD).

What could be causing this issue? Files play fine from a flash drive, files play fine with above setup on my iMac, but they wont play properly on the WDTV

Any help would be appriciated.

Hello, welcome to the community.

Have you tried encoding the files using a different software?

Thanks

Yes, I re-encoded one file using handbrake, downmixed the audio file to just DTS. Went from ~25GB file to ~4GB. But it was also in the MKV container. I also tried using MKVtoolnix to re-encode, I read some where that it will re-align (if thats the right term) the file to read easier. Neither have worked.

Netflix streams fine, Hulu is slow but streams fine, and the same files on a flash drive play fine. I have been using the NFS file system because its supposed to be faster, but same results.

Could it be my router? Its a Belkin N600, but agin everything is hardwired. Everything I have read people are doing the same thing im trying too no problem, so either the WDTV is bad, or something in my network is creating a bottle neck it seems like.

Thanks again for any help/advice you guys have.

Neither of those symptoms is simlar to mine. Im not using widows shares, rather NFS or even AFP. And my WDTV doesnt freeze, it just seems really lagy. Also if I stop one movie I can play others, just with the same lag issues.

All I’m saying is that there might be some packets going about your network throwing off the WDTV. Could be two master browsers or Upnp…
