I had the 4gb MyCloud, but it died. I was able to retrieve all data to my computer. I just purchased the MyCloud EX2 0TB, with no disk, and i am planing on puting the disc i have into the enclosure. Can i use only one disk/hdd for now or do i have to have 2 disks/hd?
If i need 2, does it have to be the same size or can be higher/lower?
Thank You
You can use 1 if you want. That’s what I am doing.
Did you get the EX2 or the EX2 Ultra?

You can use one disk in a JBOD configuration. If you plan on adding another drive later, it can also be a separate drive in JBOD. Size differences will not matter since they will be separate volumes. JBOD is just an acronym for Just A Bunch Of Disks. If, however, you plan on doing a RAID, I would recommend getting the same drives. Also, when switching to RAID, you will reformat the drives and lose the data so back up the data before changing to RAID.
One last thing, the drive from the failed MyCloud cannot be read as is in the EX2. when you install the drive, the EX2 will say it is in an unsupported format and ask you reformat it for use on the EX2

Thank You so much for all info!
If you just got the EX2 & not the Ultra, exchange it for the Ultra. Much better than the original.
The EX2 has a 1.2GHz processor and 512MB RAM, the Ultra has a Marvel Armada 1.3 dual core processor and 1GB of RAM
