CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM THIS FOR ME? Just bought a new "WD My Book"

Hey all!

Okay so I just bought the WD My Book 3TB. Not to use as a backup, but as an external storage system, because my computer is too full. I have almost 400GB of photos alone, that’s not including documents, etc.

I already use Google Drive as another backup source.

So can someone confirm this for me, because I was reading another thread and I just want to be sure.

If I drag a file from my computer, to the “My Book (H: )” folder, and then DELETE the file on my computer… will the file still be on the My Book?

I know this probably sounds like a pretty dumb, maybe obvious answer, but I’m just worried that if I delete the file from my computer after I drag it over to the My Book folder, that I’ll lose the files.

Hi there, welcome to the community.

As long as you dont create shortcuts to the files in the My Book you should be OK. Please check  this link for more information.
