Cannot Map MyBook Live Drive in Windows 10

OK, here goes.

I CAN see the drive in WD Quick view and can launch Dashboard with no issues.
I CAN see my drive in File explorer Network/Storage (I can see the WD MyBook icon/pic)
I CAN access the drive via my iPhone/iPad apps
I’ve downloaded WD Discovery - I CAN see the drive but the Map Drive option is greyed out.
Both my PC and MyBookLive are on the same workgroup.

When I try to Map the drive either via Windows or the WD Quick view menu I receive the following error.

Windows Cannot Access \MyBookLive\Public
Error Code: 0x80070035
The Network Path was not found

I’ve tried several things/fixes found online with no success.

Any ideas?

OK… NEVER MIND!!!

I stumbled on the fact that my home network connection somehow was changed to PUBLIC!
Changed to HOME and now I can map there drive…

DUH!!!

Hopefully all the time I wasted farting around with this can help someone else!!!

Hello,

Thanks for sharing the solution. Hopefully this will help other users with the same or similar issues.

This is a frustrating situation but is actually a reasonable protection. Windows changes your network connection to PUBLIC - makes your computer undiscoverable - when it detects a significant change in network topology - when you are suddenly talking to a different or reconfigured router, maybe when DHCP provides you with a new IP address (I haven’t confirmed that), etc. You cannot enter into “sharing” relationships until you tell Windows this is a safe environment. Hopefully a Mac takes a similar precaution.
