Cannot play via DLNA - Panasonic SC-BT735

Hi all,

Prior to purchasing my WD Network Drive I had been playing just fine video files on my Panasonic SC-BT735 (it’s a home cinema system but the Blu-ray player has support for DLNA) - the DLNA server was my Windows 7 laptop.

I have copied the same files over to my WD MyBook World Edition. My Panasonic device can see the Twonky server, I can browse the folder directories but when I try to play the files I just get a message saying “Cannot play” - I’ve tried a variety of different files but they all just say “Cannot play”.

They are the same files that worked fine when using my Windows 7 DLNA server so I’m assuming it’s a problem with the WD drive or the Twonky server.

Has anyone had any similar experiences / suggestions on how to fix.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

PS - I updated my Firmware yesterday to the latest release to see if that fixed it - but it didn’t!

How is it that you have your Panasonic SC-BT735 connected with a wired or wireless connection?

The Twonky version installed on the WD My Book can not handle all file formats, so you need to check out the actual formats you are attempting to play and see if the Twonky version really can handle them. This is the list for Shared Music, Shared Videos, Shared Pictures from the WD My Book User Manual relating to TwonkyMedia:

Audio files: MP3 WMA WAV LPCM OGG vorbis FLAC M4A M4B MP4 3GP AAC MP2 AC3 MPA MP1 AIF
Video files MPEG1 MPEG2 MPEG4 AVI / DivX WMV VOB 3GP VDR ASF MPE, DVR-MS Xvid M1V M4V
Image Files: JPEG PNG TIF BMP GI

If your files are not in one of these formats you will need to convert them for Twonky to play them.
