Cant Accept WD licence agreement when trying to install PLEX

I have just gone through the setup of a brand new EXT2 ultra, and found i get stuck when trying to install PLEX. When i click the link to add a custom app, a popup appears with the title ‘Add and App’ displaying the ’ WD MY CLOUD APP CENTER TERMS OF SERVICE AGREEMENT’ in a long list below.

The accept button doesnt work. I have tried pressing it in all the browsers i can think of. IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and KDE. I have also tried on on my android tablet without suscess. I also tried scrolling o the end of the agreement text, without success.

My unit is running the latest firmware, but it looks awefully like a bug as allof the other press buttons work on the web app without issue. That said, if i ty to log into the web app with anything other than the default admind username and no password, i am unable to log in at all.

Any advice welcome, but im currently so disapointed, im seriously considering sending it right back for a refund.

I had PLEX working just fine for most of a year. The automated update on my Xbox updated the client, but I am unable to update the PLEX server side on my EX2 Ultra.

I have had a ticket open for a month with tech support and have escalated up to tier 3. Their “solution” is a factory reset and start again. That’s not very palatable to me and based on your experience with a brand new enclosure, I’m not encouraged that will work anyway.

Hopefully they jump on this and get new firmware flanged up and fix the issue. When it was working it was brilliant.

Have you tried scrolling ALL the way to the bottom of the text?

Then the Accept button should become active.

I have.
It doesn’t.

Thanks though, sometimes it’s the simple things.

Andy,

Have you had any luck with this? WD sent me a brand new enclosure to try to rectify my issue. I bought a new WD Red just to set up the new enclosure fresh and clean. I have the same issue on this new enclosure as you do on your and I do on my existing enclosure.

Steps I took…

  1. Received the new enclosure via UPS / Bought a brand new WD Red 6TB Drive
  2. Unboxed the new enclosure / unwrapped the new HDD
  3. Put the new HDD in the new enclosure
  4. Hibernated the existing EX2 Ultra / unplugged from network / USB / power
  5. Plugged the new EX2 Ultra into the network and power (no USB)
  6. Set up the new enclosure / configured the single HDD as a JBOD and formatted
  7. Downloaded fresh version of latest firmware from WD (2.31.163)
  8. Manually updated (from file) to Firmware 2.31.163 (see screen shot 1)
  9. Rebooted as required as part of the process
  10. Logged on and went to Apps on the dashboard
  11. Dashboard shows “No available Apps” (see screen shot 2 below)
  12. Clicked “Install an app manually” and the Licensing Terms and Conditions dialog box opens
  13. Scrolled to the bottom right of the agreement, clicked Accept - NOTHING HAPPENS (see screen shot 3)

OK. I have fixed this issue on my EX2 Ultra. It’s a weird solution and I don’t know where the true root cause is, but this is what I have to do when this happens to me.

  1. Hibernate (shut down my NAS)
  2. Physically change the Ethernet port the NAS is connected to my Broadband Internet provider’s router
  3. Reboot my Broadband Internet provider’s router
  4. Start my NAS

After that process, I am able to see the application list over the Internet AND I am able to accept the Licensing Terms and Conditions, necessary to manually install an application (like Plex).

My Internet provider uses a Technicolor DPC3848V DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway. It’s 4 port Ethernet and 1 WAN (cable - coax). I have 3 devices plugged in (including my NAS), so it’s fairly easy for me to swap the port. I tried playing with the UPnP setting and other port mapping features and none of that worked. Weird.

Had the same issue and resolved by changing EX2 DNS.

Working fix for me:
Just use manual IP address and google dns server…
works 100%
