Can't access Dashboard on my MyCloud after upgrade to OS5

I can’t access the dashboard after upgrading to OS5 (upgraded on October 1st 2021), from OS 2.xx.xxx
I either get a http 500 error, a “impossible de traiter cette demande” (impossible to process request). I see now that it’s a Beta version of OS5. SERIOUSLY ??? You release a BETA, but you do not advertise it as such.

I can access the drive as usual, but not the dashboard !!! It was working yesterday. NOTHING else has CHANGED on my network.

Is there a way to do a Rollback ?

Hello Keerti,

I tried everything in the links below, but to no avail. None of those solutions worked. I have tried many 4 and 40 seconds resets… Did not work.

I would like to point out that the problem occured because I upgraded the firmware to Cloud OS5. From then on, I lost both the DLNA server AND the ability to access the Dashboard (or I could have installed Twonky’s DLNA). Why on Earth did WD removed the DLNA server from the base unit ??? At the very least, I would not have lost the DLNA server that was part of Cloud OS2. It should be a built-in feature of every NAS units.

I solved the problem by buying a MyCloud EX2 Ultra and transfering the Hard Drive to the new unit.

This failed upgrade (WD’s fault, by the way) cost me 200 CA$ to fix. I had a perfectly working unit before the upgrade, and a partially working unit afterwards. I Believe that I am entitled to some form of compensation. How about a second 4 TB Red drive, now that I have a two-bay NAS? Along with instruction on how to use it without destroying the data on the first drive, of course.

I am not a happy Customer, and I would have bought Sinology’s solution instead, if I had the assurance I would not have lost the data I have on my drive. Since it is already used as a backup unit, buying another drive to back up the back up drive would have been ludicrous, and even more expensive. That, and backing up 2 TB of data is a looooonng process!

Now I know it’s not your fault (as a person working in support), but it is WD’s responsibility for pushing out firmware that have not been properly tested.

I received an email stating that OS5 was ready, and I went into the Dashboard, and upgraded the firmware from the Dashboard.

Looking now at the « new » interface, I fail to see any improvement, beside having more choices for third-party apps. Everything else looks the same! With DLNA support removed (that’s supposed to be an improvement???) Frabnkly, I adhere to the old principle : « If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!!! ».

In that regard, I have disabled auto update on my new unit. I am not taking any chances with updates anymore.

Please forward this complaint to the proper department at WD’s. I want to hear from them.

Best regards,

Denis Deslauriers.

P.S. : Suggestion :

WD should develop an external application (for Windows and Mac) to upgrade the firmware as an alternative to updating the firmware from the Dashboard, in case it is not accessible. The device is still on the network, so it still can receive commands over Ethernet.

The hard drive of my old MyCloud device is now sitting pretty in my new MyCloud EX2 Ultra. It’s now working. But it cost me 200$ to fix, and I want some form of compensation, because the problem occured following an OS upgrade.

Thanks,
Denis
