Can't access private share through File Explorer

I’ve updated the firmware, rebooted several times. I’m running Windows 7/64. I created a share. As long as I have this share set to public access, I can access it fine. When I set my user (me) to have full access and turn off Public access, I can’t access it. If I double click the share in File Explorer, it asks for my user/password. I type it in and I’m getting a dialog with…“\WDMYCLOUD\myshare is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use…”. Then below this it states…“No more connections can be made to this…”. The thing is, no one else is connecting. This happens every time. If I keep messing with mycloud in the dashboard and keep trying to connect…shuting down file explorer and restarting it and the dashboard, sometimes it will let me connect.

This should be a simple process. You create a user, create a share, assign the user access to a share. Viola, but not.

Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks

I found that if I use my WDMyCloud.com password (which is different from my user in the WD MyCloud Dashboard) it lets me in to the share through file manager. I guess I don’t fully understand how the users work? My user in the Dashboard is only for sysadmin type stuff? and my WDMyCloud.com user/password is for access the cloud either through a browser (remotely) or through file manager locally?

Open up a CMD window as administrator.

Issue the command

net use * /delete

… now try mapping your private share.  Use the user ID and password defined in the dashboard.
