Hi there
Just bought a 4TB mycloud.
Installed, configured, updated the firmware and everything was good.
I had to unplug the power to move the device, and the web GUI stopped working reporting the neverending message “Reading configuration informartion…”
I’ve tried to reset the device using the rear bottom, but nothing changed.
Unfortunately the ssh access has been disabled too after ther reset.
No more fortune using the WD My Cloud Setup app (on a Mac), reporting errors “not able to configure the device” and “not able to access the device remotely”.
Right now the only thing I can do with it is to read/write the folders with Finder (that’s not bad but I need more).
So, do I have more chance?
Thank you for any suggestion
Try the 40-second restore option.
Power it down
Press and HOLD the reset button
Re-apply power while the reset button is still being held
Release the button after 40 seconds
how long did you wait? did you shut it down through the dashboard? it doesn’t sound like it.
when you pull the plug it can take anywhare from a few minutes to many hours to check and fix any disk issues
Yes, already tried it.
Unfortunately nothing got better.
The WD support told me that if this recovery doesn’t work the device must be substituted.
Waited for a lifetime…
No, didn’t shutted down using the dashboard, and this is my fault, but this is not good for a linux device because a power down could happen.
I waited so much time, and the light always turned blue.
I’ll do a last try leaving it working for a whole day.
