Can't find MyBookLive on the home network

Hey,

Having major problems finding MyBookLive on the home network. I am using a Mac, in finder when i click on the shared icon it says “connection failed”. When i double click on the WD My Cloud app thingy and it eventually says “can’t connect to this device”. When i try to connect to the dashboard it doesn’t work. When i try to access the dashboard it says “the page isn’t working”. I have no idea what to do, Can anyone please help?

Many thanks

Jozza

Hello there,

Have you tried rebooting the unit? Also try to reset the unit by pressing the hole that is located on top the Ethernet port for 3 to 5 seconds. Also if this does not work try to see if you can access the drive from a different computer on the same network.

I have the same problem. All my pictures are on that drive and I cannot access it.
The lights are all as it should be: green in front and 2 lights on the back. I cannot get the IP address and by typing http/mybooklive no reaction and no access to anything.
I have two drivers: one MyBookLive and one MyBookliveDuo and I do have the same issue on both drivers. I have another driver on the network and that one works fine.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Pat

I am having the same issues. Steady Green light on the front. Network lights in the back on, but it does not show up on my netork, checked from 3 different laptops. The network is WORKGROUP, I have tried and reset the MBL several times, the WD discovery tool does not see it, it does not show up on the ARP table either. Is my only option to send it to a data recovery place alternatively find someone that can pull the HDD and put it on a Linux box or similar? Please help. All my pics are there.

I have read elsewhere that MyBookLive cannot be accessed using Windows 10 - an issue that seems to have existed since early versions of Windows 10 were released back in 2015.
I have this system setup and cannot locate MyBookLive as a network drive and it cannot be accessed through the WD Smartware software.
The MyBookLive has been restarted, shows green lights and seems to be working mechanically - but cannot be seen or used. I have tried to access it by mapping drives and through internet connection to its IP - both failed.
I have logged a support request with WD today - to get a definitive answer on whether MBL supports Windows 10

I’m running Windows 10 with a MyBookLive just now. Unfortunately, the installation problems I had with Windows 10 (mainly Ethernet) overshadow any issues I had with the MyBookLive.

Did you have an ip address on the box before you upgraded to Win10, and can you ping it? Also check under “network” in windows explorer to see if it appears there.

Best I can do offhand just now, if anything else occurs to me, I’ll post it.
