I have a WD My Cloud Storage hooked up thru my internet router. Things have been going well until recently. Whenever I try to move large files from my PC connected thru Wi-Fi to my NAS drive I keep getting the message that an unexpected network error has occured. Google search tells me about the message and “steps to take” to resolve but am wondering if it’s because my network might be low where my PC is at? I am beginning to run out of ideas here.
Your PC should have a signal strength indicator. That will give you a general idea of the WiFi strength. Or use a WiFi analyser app.
But there may be other, intermittent interferers that are disturbing the data transfer, in spite of the packet retry protocols. These could be other WiFi devices, cordless phones, microwave ovens, etc.
The PC I use is in the basement and the router upstairs. I guess I can try
it. There are times when I access the MyCloud from my PC it does take a
few moments to respond.
Most of the solutions say to reset the device. It started happening again. I tried to download via torrent a copy of Linux Mint thru the linux mint site, it starts the download and then within a few minutes I get: “Win 10 NAS Error: An unexpected network error occurred (Writetodisk)”. I can save it locally but that defeats the purpose.
