Has anyone tried to set up the system on a smaller disk say 500gb?

I took the 4tb disk out of the box and now i’m using it as a backup disk on a pc using freenas. I did this because i’m afraid the disk wont live long considering the standby/wakeup problem.
Anyway, all I want to do is use the remainng empty mycloud box only as a torrent downloader. I want to install the ubuntu system on an old 500gb. As i expected, restoring the virgin images (2TB) on a smaller disk didnt do the job. It’s just wont boot. Any suggestions how to implement the system on a smaller disk?

Hi again, this type of modifications are not supported, but maybe some of the other users can share some advice.
