Client backups of systems with GPT partiton style disks

I have a DX4000 which fails to backup my new Windows 8 Pro system, and I have found on this board the fact that this is not suported. (1) is there a WD KB article that discusses this and/or a Microsoft KB article? (2) is this a restriction on the new DS5100 and DS6100 (server 2012 based) systems as well?

for completeness, the error that I see on the client and beleive is related is… Voume Shadow Copy Service error: Access is Denied.

I am supprised that businesses are not pressuring the vendors for suport of this. an alert for the client computer from the sentinel about this linmitation would be helpful.

A hotfix is avaliable from MS for this.  Be sure and book mark it for the gotchas on restores.  Cause you will hit them. Gotcha’s is not fair, I mean workarounds/solutions that are just not in the wizzard.

It worls fine with the hotfix.

Thanks so very much for this, Gramps!  If there is a hot-fix, I hope that will lead to a fully supported update soon!

Well the hot fix is supporteed :)  I don’t think it will be in a rollup. 

BTW the DS it built on Server 2012 R2 Essentials which has uEFI support in the box.
