Convenient way to restart

I restart my device pretty regularly to keep things fresh. While I am willing to navigate to the option in settings it isn’t user friendly for the rest of the family.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a convenient way to restart the device? Ideally, it would have been nice to be able to mark the option deep in the settings menu as a favorite so it’d be on my home screen. I’d put this in the ideas section but I doubt we will ever see any more SMP updates.

I thought maybe a USB app could do it but after reading the threads it seems that those “apps” aren’t really that kind of app.

And yes, I could unplug and replug but that isn’t clean either.

The only other thing I thought of is a  full power down after every use. However, I have turned to leaving the SMP on all the time to keep it connected to a Windows 7 share that I finally got working most of the time.

There’s the energy-saving auto shutdown in the options – might that work?

Hi Tony. I did try that but I had trouble reconnecting to my Win 7 share. You know all about the issues there. A reboot and then always-on has given me the best results.

I jinxed myself by saying that as a reboot yesterday killed my Win7 share. You’d think the two are unrelated and that is probably true but, psychologically at least, I thought if the box was always on I would not drop the precious connection. But Win7 share issues is a separate topic already on this forum.

Easy reboot - shut it off during quick boot.  Next boot cycle is a full one.

Hmm, that is a fun fact. I didn’t know it did that.
