Cover Art/Thumbnails

Ok, I have played around with this now for a couple days, but I do have a question in regards to how the WDTV LIve player adds the thumnails and metadata.  Here is the setup.

-Netgear Readynas

-A shared folder with all the individual video files, so just all of them put together but broken up by sections of the alphabet.  I.e. A-F, etc…  Not individual folders for each movie/video file.

I can see the shares, and the player recognizes the files so that isn’t an issue.  I guess what I’m asking here is after the player has scanned the media/content, I checked back on the NAS at the folders which contained all the video files.  I noticed that for every file, a couple of files were written in the same folder now.  So for every movie, there are now 3 individual files for it.  This get s alittle confusing when looking or watching something from the other non WDTV players in the house (not so much for me, but for the kids/wife).

Is this the way that it puts the cover/content in the original folders on the NAS?  So I’m guessing if one wants to continue to access the NAS from the other players, and not see the extra hundreds of files, you would just ‘hide’ the non video files?  Is there a better way to do it?  I.e. just make individual folders for each movie/file?

Thanks for the help.  I know, dumb question, but one that I’ve been wondering since I saw the addition of all the new files while browsing the NAS’ appropriate folders.

You may check in your non-WD media players if there is an  option to filter the files by type, if you hide the files there is chance that also the WD TV will not be able to see the metadata.
