My laptop has been stolen recently and I am concerned about the criminals accessing my MyBook Live remotely. The drive was mapped onto the laptop, but I don’t know if anyone could access the files via this method if they were attached onto another wifi network rather than the one in my home? I will of course change the password (which I believe is only one?), but I wish to know if the drive records access events? i.e. is there a log on the drive where I can see who accessed the drive, from which device (or via website), the date and time of access and what actions were performed (i.e. files viewed, copied, deleted etc…). Many thanks for your help!
If you never setup the WD2GO account on the my book dashboard for remote access, they cannot access your files, but if you did, go to the dashboard and delete the account.
Hi thanks for the info. Yes I did set up the account for remote access, so I’ll cancel this and try to re-establish it with a new password. However isn’t this remote access for if someone logs into the account via the wd website? What I was more concerned about was that I had mapped the drive in windows explorer, such that it appears when you turn the laptop on and open file explorer. Or would the drive only be visible like this when on my wireless network rather that someone else’s? (seeing as it was mapped as a network drive).
Also more importantly to me can someone tell me if there is a way to see who/where/when the drive was accessed? i.e. is there a log stored on the drive or elsewhere showing this information?
Many thanks for your help
