I know it sounds stupid, but how do I open my files that are backed-up in My Passport Essentials? And can I erase the files on the computer after I have backed them up on the external drive? Tnx!
How did you do the backup? If you used Smartware then you can see the files in the Retreive tab or in the .SWSTOR folder in the drive. If you did it manually, then you should be able to just go inside your drive and see your files.
Also, if you erase the files from your computer after they are on your Passport, then you —DON’T— have a backup, what you have on that case is called a Master Copy. If the data is not on at least 2 places then you don’t have backup, which means that if you erase the files from your computer and your Passport is to fail the next day, you’ll lose your data.
So… Yes, you can erase the files, just make sure for the sake of your data that it’s not only on one place!!
I hope it helps!
Thanks! That’s very helpful. There’s only one more thing I’d like to know. Can I just cut the documents and paste it into the external drive, as if it was a flash stick?
Yes you can, they pretty much work the same way when dealing directly with files.
Great! I really appreciate your help!
