Developer docs for creating content metadata XML files?

Please excuse the dumb question, but I’m obviously looking under the wrong rocks…

Is there any documentation for the format of the sidecar XML metadata files? perhaps any restrictions/optimal settings for the JPEG files, too?

I see some great tools for windows that generate these, but I’m looking into writing tools to generate them for TV shows being recorded by a Linux NAS/HDHomeRun combination (I’m using tvheadend, xmltv and dvbhdhomerun).

While I’ve looked at the files being output by tools like XMLFetcher and WDTVHubGen (both extremely useful), I’m wondering if there’s a ‘source of truth’ developers are referring to, when writing these tools.

Any help appreciated,

I used the Hub as the source of truth.

I let it generate XML for TV shows and then mimicked the format.
