I’m transferring about 4TB of data from my PC to the MY cloud device, progress over Gigabit Ethernet is painfully slow. Can the device be connected directly via the USB 3.0 port to my PC to speed things up a bit? THNX

You can’t connect the NAS to a computer using the USB 3.0 port. This port is to attach a USB drive to the My Cloud.
You can try to connect your NAS directly to the Ethernet port of your computer. Most recent OS/NICs can deal with this unusual link and give an IP to the NAS. Reboot the computer, then reboot the NAS. This method will not work if you have assigned a fixed IP address to the NAS using the NAS UI. It would work fine if you have assigned a fiexed IP address to the NAS using your router DHCP settings.
If you have another usb 3.0 drive, you might try to move your files to it, then plug it into the MyCloud. Then you can move the files locally through the web interface (not Explorer). I’m not sure it will really be faster afterall, but I’d like to know if it works.

But of course, that you can connect two hosts via USB, I wish we had in My Clouds!
