Hi guys, hope someone can help. I only want to access my cloud from my portable devices and not the Sony PlayStation which all the family use.
I know I can disable the media server on the PS3 but you can easily switch it on again without a password prompt.
How can I remove my WD cloud access from the PlayStation altogether?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Many thanks in advance…
You may want to post your question to a Sony Playstation discussion group to see if they have an answer. Generally there is no way from the Twonky administration screen (http://wdmycloud:9000) or from the WD My Cloud Dashboard to prevent one specific DLNA client from accessing the WD My Cloud embedded Twonky media server.
It may be possible to use SSH to edit one or more My Cloud firmware files (or Twonky files) to try and block access from one specific client but I don’t know if anyone has actually done so.
Another option is, if one’s router or managed switch supports such an option, is to block traffic from one IP address to another IP Address on the local network at the local network router/switch level. Generally most consumer level routers won’t have the ability to block local network traffic between local network devices unless one segments the local network into different IP Address subnets.
Put your files in a private share.
Disable the DLNA media server.
Access the private share using your password.
If you want media access, use kodi and connected to the SMB server.
