I’ve got some permanent disk read errors on Thunderbolt Duo configured as RAID 0. The result of diagnostic was failed drive test at its beginning. MacOS disk utility displays that volumes appears to be ok. I tried to format my Duo in different RAID configurations (including JBOD) and security options (like filling with zeros), but with same result. Should I just replace HDDs or it’s chassis failure? macOs 10.12.1
In order to properly diagnose the issue it´s best to test the internal hard drives individually since testing the entire RAID volume may not take into account individual hard drive health and SMART status. If individual testing indicates the hard drives are healthy then the enclosure controller should be replaced.
