I give up, been trying to set up the my cloud for weeks now so I can access my files between home and school and nothing. The question is; can I just connect the my cloud drive to my computer using a crossover cable or via the usb? Then use it as just another external drive?
You should be able to connect it to your router and access it from your PC. YOu can’t connect it using the USB port. You could also connect i using a cable. No need for a crossover cable. Best way is to use the router.
Have you read the My Cloud User Manual (https://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904) which explains how to setup the My Cloud and access the device both locally and remotely?
The My Cloud is a network attached storage device not a USB hard drive. You must connect the My Cloud using a Ethernet cable to either a router/switch/hub or a computer. Generally one would connect the My Cloud to a router.
Hi, I can connect locally at home it works fine, I just can’t get to it from school. ?
My dad has everything setup for wireless hence, router down stairs and computer upstairs in my room.I have no physical connection available.
