Im seeing mkv and avi files and suddenly the tv puts in black for a few seconds. I tried in many files in two Hard Discs connected to the WD HD and it happens again. Its just for a few seconds, but I need to fix it. Please help me.

I am having the same issue. I have my WDTVgen1 for 14 months now, and until few weeks ago I was extremly satisfied customer. Suddenly two weeks ago my WDTV start to have some serious problems, I have two HDD connected to it and now it doesnt want to play any of movies(mkv or avi), not a single one.
After I press play on the movie (for example Avatar which I watched for 10 times now) it just goes black screen and nothing happens. I can go back to the menu, but not one single movie will start to play. This is some seriuos problem…
I have tryed reset to factory settings for a dozen of times, but nothing will help (i have 1.03.01.)

Now, the FAQ is for the Live / Live+, but I believe the same issue exists on the WDTV HDs.

TonyPh12345 that FAQ should be pinned to the regular WDTV’s page. I happened to stumble upon it a couple weeks back (since i do not have a live i never went onto the lives page) and it has provided the most info for me out of this whole site. thanks!!

I didnt try it yet on my WDTV, but i put the films through mediainfo, and it says that they are 4.2 version, so that is the problem definitly…
